The Gilgit Baltistan -History and Culture

 Gilgit-Baltistan, also known as the Northern Areas, is a region in Pakistan. It is located in the northeastern part of the country, and borders Afghanistan and China. The population of Gilgit-Baltistan is predominantly made up of ethnic Pakistanis, including Shina, Balti, and Burusho, as well as some ethnic Tibetans and Wakhi.


The region has a long history, with evidence of human habitation dating back to the Paleolithic era. It was ruled by various empires and dynasties throughout history, including the Persians, the Mughals, and the British.

The culture of Gilgit-Baltistan is diverse and influenced by the region's history and geography. The people are known for their traditional music, dance, and art, as well as their rich history of poetry and storytelling.



Gilgit-Baltistan is divided into seven districts: Gilgit, Ghizer, Diamer, Astore, Skardu, Ghanche and Hunza Nagar. Each district has its own distinct culture and geography, from the high peaks of the Karakoram range in the north to the Indus River valley in the south.
